A mindful day retreat dedicated to slowing down, creativity & japanese inspired traditional skills
Service Description
Join Lisa and Sue for a mindful day retreat dedicated to slowing down and connecting to your creativity. Learn about the traditional japanese art of Boro & Sashiko stitching, spend time in the yurt & gardens, enjoy some mindful movement and meditation and allow your creativity to flow with this ancient art. All materials and instruction are included, plus tea & treats. You are invited to bring your own packed lunch. The day takes place at The Yoga Social’s tranquil yurt by the River Forth, the perfect setting to slow down, feel grounded and connected to your natural creativity. No prior sewing experience required! Schedule 10am - Arriving/Introductions 10.15am - Gentle movement and meditation ( hopefully outside under the willow tree) 11-12.30 - Creation Time 12.30-1.30 Lunch/Walk - optional led walk for a mini forest bathing. 1.30-3.15 - Creation time 3.15-3.45 - Gallery and Response 3.45-4pm - Closing thoughts. Your Facilitators Sue Crawley of Sunshine Designs Dollar is a local Textile Artist and educator based at The Firestation Creatives in Dunfermline. She runs creative stitching workshops for adults and children at Solsgirth Home Farm, Cowden Japanese Gardens and Dovecot Studios in Edinburgh. Sue strongly believes in the positive power of creativity and enjoys introducing people to a range of creative experiences - Boro and Sashiko Japanese stitching, seasonal slow stitching, fabric scrolls, mixed media print & stitch. Her style is such that no experience of stitching is required and her sessions are suitable for complete beginners and experienced stitchers alike. She draws on many yogic and therapeutic techniques to create trauma-informed practises that cater for beginners and experienced yogis alike. Her roots are in Textiles so she is delighted to be bringing this collaboration to the space.
